Overview

The goal of ActingIsReality classes is to help the actor develop his or her personal process.

ActingIsReality uses script analysis to help the actor to develop a clear partition of life to become involved in the play and the character's world. Fascinating and worthwhile.

John Strasberg, master teacher, and Artistic Director, Accidental Repertory Theater.

Students will explore creating a character by living spontaneously in the context of the play. This requires analyzing the script to discover the world of the play, and developing habits of maintaining contact with yourself and fellow actors while behaving spontaneously.

Our work is informed by our long association with John Strasberg, whose "organic creative process" expands on the teachings of Stanislavski, as well as those of John's father Lee Strasberg and other teachers of that generation. We also draw on our study of Brecht's work with actors, and the work of Viola Spolin, Augusto Boal, and others.

The ActingIsReality workshop derives in part from classes presented previously as a part of the Accidental Repertory Theater/John Strasberg Studios summer program. For information about upcoming classes, visit our Contact page.
